Privacy Policy

DINKWAD Life (“we,” “us”) runs a few different things — a newsletter, story submissions, polls and trivia, habit challenges, and free planning tools. What we collect depends on what you actually do, so the sections below are grouped by activity. You only need the ones that apply to you.

Information we collect & why

Your account

Challenges use a free DINKWAD account. It’s passwordless: you give us your email and we send a 6-digit sign-in code, and you can add an optional display name (shown to friends you invite to a group). A signed-in session is remembered in a cookie so you stay logged in across DINKWAD subdomains. Signing up does not subscribe you to the newsletter unless you check that box.

Newsletter & email

When you subscribe (or opt in while doing something else), we collect your email address and your consent choice, and manage the subscription through Beehiiv. We use it to send the DINKWAD Life newsletter and related emails you asked for.

Challenges & accountability groups

When you take on a challenge (like the DINKWAD 60-Day Challenge) while signed in, we store your progress (which days/tasks you’ve completed, your start date, whether you have a dog) on our servers so it syncs across your devices and we can send daily reminder emails. If you start or join an accountability group, your display name, progress stats (days completed and missed), and email are visible to other members of that group. You invite friends by sharing a private join link — we don’t collect their contact details. Every reminder has a one-click link to turn reminders off, and you can leave a group or delete a challenge anytime from your dashboard.

Planning tools (the money hub)

Our calculators (like the financial-independence calculator) are free and work without an account — the numbers you type stay in your browser. If you’re signed in and choose to save them, we store your inputs on our servers so they sync across your devices. We don’t ask for or store any account or banking details.

Story submissions

When you submit a story, we collect your name (or your anonymous preference), email address, the story text, and any optional private notes you ask us not to publish.

Polls & trivia

When you vote in a poll or answer trivia, we record your response and, if you provide it, your email and newsletter consent. Basic technical data (browser, IP) is handled by our hosting provider to operate the site and prevent abuse.

How we use your information

• Operate the feature you’re using (challenge progress, polls, trivia, stories)
• Send the newsletter and challenge reminder emails you opted into
• Review and, with your consent, edit and publish story submissions
• Improve our content and respond to support or legal requests

Email & third parties

We use Beehiiv to manage newsletter subscriptions and Resend to send transactional emails such as challenge reminders. Your email is processed according to those providers’ privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention

We keep records while they remain relevant to operating the site and our business, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. You can delete a challenge or leave a group anytime from your dashboard, and calculator inputs you never save stay only in your browser.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any newsletter, and turn off challenge reminders using the link in any reminder. To request access, correction, or deletion of your data, contact us at hello@dinkwad.life.
